Accessibility Statement
Published: March 2026
Chaos Tarot is committed to ensuring that our digital divination platform is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level.
1. Our Commitment
We believe that divination and personal reflection should be available to everyone. Accessibility is not an afterthought for Chaos Tarot — it is an ongoing commitment woven into our design and development process.
We target conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across all pages and features. While we recognize that achieving perfect accessibility is a continuous journey, we are dedicated to identifying and resolving barriers wherever they exist.
2. Accessibility Features
The following accessibility features have been implemented across the platform:
- Keyboard Navigation — all interactive elements, including card draws, spreads, menus, and navigation, are fully operable via keyboard alone.
- Screen Reader Support — meaningful alt text, ARIA labels, and live regions are used to convey visual information and state changes to assistive technologies.
- Reduced Motion — animations and transitions respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query. Users who prefer minimal motion will see simplified or no animations. - Focus Indicators — visible focus outlines are provided on all interactive elements so keyboard users can always see where they are on the page.
- Semantic HTML — the platform uses proper heading hierarchy, landmark elements, lists, and form labels to create a logical document structure.
- ARIA Landmarks — page regions are marked with appropriate ARIA landmark roles (navigation, main, complementary) to help assistive technology users orient themselves.
- Skip-to-Content Link — a skip navigation link is provided at the top of each page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation and jump directly to the main content.
- Color Contrast — text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements against the platform's dark background.
- High Contrast Support — the platform respects the
prefers-contrast: moremedia query. Where supported, decorative glow effects are suppressed and border and text contrast is increased for users who require higher visual distinction. - Dyslexia-Friendly Font Option — the Settings page offers an optional dyslexia-friendly font (OpenDyslexic) that can be activated at any time. When enabled, all body text across the platform switches to this font while decorative headings retain their styling.
3. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility may be limited, and we are actively working to improve them:
- Procedurally Rendered Canvas Elements — rune glyphs, I Ching hexagrams, Ogham feda, Lenormand cards, and geomancy figures are rendered on HTML canvas elements using our Asset Forge procedural rendering engine. While we provide text alternatives and ARIA labels for these visuals, the canvas content itself is not directly accessible to screen readers. We provide equivalent textual information alongside each canvas element to ensure the meaning is conveyed.
- Neon Color Scheme — the cyberpunk aesthetic of Chaos Tarot relies on a neon color palette against dark backgrounds. While we strive to maintain WCAG AA contrast ratios, certain decorative neon accents and glow effects may present contrast concerns for some users with low vision or color sensitivities. Core content always meets minimum contrast requirements.
4. Reporting Accessibility Issues
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Chaos Tarot. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know:
- Use our contact page to submit a detailed report.

When reporting an issue, please include as much detail as possible: the page URL, what you were trying to do, the assistive technology you were using (if any), and a description of the problem. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to resolve confirmed issues as promptly as possible.
5. Standards & Guidelines
This statement was prepared with reference to:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 — W3C Recommendation
- WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) — W3C Technical Specification
6. Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our platform against current accessibility standards, test with assistive technologies, and incorporate user feedback to improve the experience for all visitors. This statement will be updated as we make further progress.
