What do the four tarot suits represent?

Each suit maps to an element and a domain of human experience. In classical tarot, the suits are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. In the Chaos Tarot, they're reimagined as Signals, Networks, Codes, and Vectors — same elemental assignments, different metaphor.

The Four Suits

  • Signals / Wands (Fire) — Will, passion, ambition, creativity, action. When Signals dominate a reading, the question is about drive and direction. What do you want, and are you pursuing it?
  • Networks / Cups (Water) — Emotion, relationships, intuition, the unconscious. Networks cards ask: how do you feel about this? What's the emotional truth beneath the surface?
  • Codes / Swords (Air) — Thought, communication, analysis, conflict, truth. Codes cut through illusion — sometimes painfully. The suit of clarity and its cost.
  • Vectors / Pentacles (Earth) — Material reality, work, money, health, the physical world. Vectors ground the reading: what's the practical situation? What can you actually do?

Reading Suit Balance

When one suit dominates your reading, it tells you which domain your question really lives in. Asked about a career but pulled three Networks cards? The real issue isn't professional — it's emotional. The suits don't just answer your question; they sometimes redirect it to where the actual energy is.
