Cross-System

Which divination system should I use?

The one that resonates — but here's a more useful framework. Each system has a native frequency, and matching that frequency to your question produces the clearest signal.

By Question Type

  • Complex life situations with multiple factors → Tarot (78 cards = fine-grained vocabulary)
  • Direct, actionable guidance → Elder Futhark (24 runes, blunt and honest)
  • Philosophical questions about change and process → I Ching (64 hexagrams + changing lines show movement)
  • Questions about growth, timing, natural cycles → Ogham (25 tree-linked symbols)
  • Practical questions about events and outcomes → Lenormand (36 cards, reads like a sentence)
  • Yes/no questions, timing, astrological context → Geomancy (16 figures mapped to houses)

By Temperament

If you think in narratives, tarot will feel like home. If you prefer precision, try geomancy. If you're drawn to nature and ecology, Ogham. If you want ancient wisdom with minimal ornamentation, the I Ching. If you want the universe to stop being polite and just tell you what's happening, Lenormand or runes.

Chaos Tarot has a System Quiz that matches your personality to a starting system. But the real answer is: try them all. Each system will teach you something the others can't.
