Hexagram Meaning
The Oracle Speaks
Water upon water — the abyss doubled. Danger piled on danger. If you are sincere, you have success in your heart, and whatever you do succeeds. The repeated danger teaches you to flow like water itself: always finding its level, filling every hollow before moving on. The recursive error that, once understood, teaches you everything about the system.
The Six Lines — Changing Line Oracles
When a line is “changing” (old yin or old yang), its oracle activates. These texts reveal the specific mutation occurring at that position in the hexagram.
Line 1 (Yin — broken) — Bottom
Repetition of the abyss. In the abyss one falls into a pit. Misfortune. Falling deeper into the recursive error.
Line 2 (Yang — solid)
The abyss is dangerous. One should strive to attain small things only. Incremental progress through the danger zone.
Line 3 (Yin — broken)
Forward and backward, abyss on abyss. In danger like this, pause first and wait. In a pit within the abyss. Do not act. Completely surrounded by danger — freeze and analyze.
Line 4 (Yin — broken)
A jug of wine, a bowl of rice, and earthen vessels simply handed in through the window. No blame. Minimal viable survival — simple tools, direct delivery.
Line 5 (Yang — solid)
The abyss is not filled to overflowing. It is filled only to the rim. No blame. The danger is contained — just barely.
Line 6 (Yin — broken) — Top
Bound with cords and ropes, shut in between thorn-hedged prison walls. For three years one cannot find the way. Misfortune. Total lockdown — the worst-case scenario.
