Thunder upon thunder — doubled shock. Success. The shock terrifies for a hundred miles, but the sacrificial wine is not spilled. The shock of the unexpected: it shakes you to awareness but if your foundation is solid, nothing spills. The page at 3 AM, the production incident, the sudden crisis — it tests your readiness.

The Six Lines — Changing Line Oracles

When a line is “changing” (old yin or old yang), its oracle activates. These texts reveal the specific mutation occurring at that position in the hexagram.

Line 1 (Yang — solid) — Bottom

Shock comes — oh, oh! Then follow laughing words — ha, ha! Good fortune. The initial panic gives way to relief when the system holds.

Line 2 (Yin — broken)

Shock comes bringing danger. A hundred thousand times you lose your treasures and climb the nine hills. Do not pursue them. After seven days you will get them back. The data seems lost but is recoverable. Don't panic-fix; wait and recover properly.

Line 3 (Yin — broken)

Shock comes and makes one distraught. If shock spurs to action, one remains free of misfortune. The productive response to crisis — use the adrenaline constructively.

Line 4 (Yang — solid)

Shock is mired. The shock paralyzes rather than energizes — stuck in the incident with no clear path forward.

Line 5 (Yin — broken)

Shock goes hither and thither. Danger. However, nothing at all is lost. One still has something to do. The crisis bounces around but nothing is permanently damaged. Stay focused.

Line 6 (Yin — broken) — Top

Shock brings ruin and terrified gazing around. Going ahead brings misfortune. If it has not yet touched one's own body, but has touched one's neighbor, no blame. The blast radius spreads but you're still outside it. Don't advance into the fire.
