The Oracle Speaks

Thunder and rain set in — the tension breaks. Deliverance. If there is no longer anything to be done, return to normal. If there remains something to be done, hasten to do it. The moment of release after the crisis. The bug fix that clears the entire backlog. Don't linger in the aftermath — resolve the last issues and return to steady state.

The Six Lines — Changing Line Oracles

When a line is “changing” (old yin or old yang), its oracle activates. These texts reveal the specific mutation occurring at that position in the hexagram.

Line 1 (Yin — broken) — Bottom

Without blame. The simplest possible resolution — no further action needed.

Line 2 (Yang — solid)

One kills three foxes in the field and receives a yellow arrow. Perseverance brings good fortune. Eliminating three deceptions yields a tool of truth.

Line 3 (Yin — broken)

If a man carries a burden on his back and nevertheless rides in a carriage, he thereby encourages robbers to draw near. Perseverance leads to humiliation. Inappropriate privileges invite exploitation.

Line 4 (Yang — solid)

Deliver yourself from your big toe. Then the companion comes, and him you can trust. Release the small attachment to gain the great ally.

Line 5 (Yin — broken)

If only the superior man can deliver himself, it brings good fortune. He proves to inferior people that he is in earnest. Self-liberation demonstrates genuine authority.

Line 6 (Yin — broken) — Top

The prince shoots at a hawk on a high wall. He kills it. Everything serves to further. The precise strike on the last remaining threat. Clean kill, no collateral damage.
